Rotary Encoders are used for the Rotating measurements of speed and direction. They can measure the change in millimeters, they are used to detect the position of motor, gear system or any object which is in rotating motion. Their performance precision is based on their resolution. There are two types of encoder with respect to construction, Optical Encoders and Magnetic Encoders, Optical are high performance with more precision but they are more sensitive for dust and vibration in industrial usage, and on the other hand, Magnetic Encoders are durable as compared to the Optical Encoders, Magnetic Encoders are not precise like Optical Encoders but they are robust and they can withstand in industrial environment.
