Linear Encoders are used for the Linear measurements of speed and direction. They can measure the change in millimeters, they are used to detect the position of the conveyor belt or any object which is in linear motion. Their performance precision is based on their resolution. There are two types of encoders with respect to construction, Optical Encoders, and Magnetic Encoders, Optical are high performance with more precision but they are more sensitive for dust and vibration in industrial usage, and on the other hand, Magnetic Encoders are durable as compared to the Optical Encoders, Magnetic Encoders are not precise like Optical Encoders but they are robust and they can withstand in the industrial environment.
