LVDTs are commonly used in high-precision applications that require accurate measurement of linear displacement. They consist of a primary coil and two secondary coils that are wound around a cylindrical core. As the core moves along its axis, it induces a change in the mutual inductance between the primary and secondary coils, which is used to determine the linear displacement.
